Artist Statement

Rochelle Chong is a textile and mixed-media exploratory artist in Ontario, Canada, whose work transforms reclaimed fibres into layered narratives. Drawing from her background as a vintage curator, restorer and upcycler, Rochelle reimagines discarded materials, breathing new life into forgotten textiles.  

Through techniques such as appliqué, fabric collage, kinusaiga and hand stitching, she explores themes of transformation, resilience and cultural heritage. Each artwork serves as a meditative practice of preserving beauty in impermanence and embracing the storytelling embedded in every thread. 

Rochelle's practice is deeply rooted in her belief in circularity, not only in fashion but in creative expression, where every stitch becomes an act of renewal. Her evolving body of work has been featured in local markets and pop-up shows, and she continues to build her professional portfolio with pieces that offer lasting value in a world of disposability.
